I am not a salesperson and I can live without my phone. I can not live without my family, mountain biking, drumming, progressive rock, good food and good coffee.
I will not start by saying that I took my first picture at the age of four or six. No, it happened much later when I was close to 30 years old. That first picture was a “terrible one” as I heard from a family member, a photographer. I took that comment to my heart and decided to learn on my own how to take good pictures. It took me many years of study and practice to understand what makes a good picture especially how to create interesting lighting. Fast forward 8 years, I quit my job and created Kolen Photography. Now, my studio offers unique high-end quality artistic documentary without that high-end sticker price. I have photographed over 400 awesome weddings and have to say that I can still feel that exciting spark I had at the beginning.
My photography service is about catching that moment in a creative way. Individual expectations are always my priority. I always strive to go beyond typical photography to tell the wedding story with unique, interesting lighting and create one when it is naturally missing. When I document a wedding I focus on moments, big and small, details and always pay attention to lighting, colors, shapes and composition. Wedding day is often the most important day in a couple's life. I would love to tell your story
My family and I, a different and funny personal project.
The below picture of my family took a 20 min walk into the forest where the rusted Jeep was. The lighting was 6 lights total with 3 spotlights.
Camera on the tripod with 10 sec delay and some props. Editing took about 5 min, no photoshop magic. I took 4 pictures in total.
Total time for this project, about 3 hours.
